Betfred review

betfred-logo 2Fred and Peter Done opened their first betting shop in Salford in 1967 under the name of Betfred. Since then, the independent bookmaker has become one of the most recognised names in the industry. They have opened over 1,350 shops across the UK and now they offer their services online from their Cheshire headquarters.

The Done brothers may still be local lads having taken Betfred to the top of the North West Top 200 Businesses list for four years running, but they also have a strong global presence, offering their gambling services to online customers all over the world.

Welcome Bonus – Bet £10, Get £30 FREE

Betfred offer a knock-out £30 free bet to all of their new online customers.  It may not be the most generous of all the free bets and welcome offers available in the online betting world, but it is by no means the least. From a qualifying stake of £10, new customers will receive their free £30 within 48 hours. That means you get three times the amount of your first stake – not too shabby at all.

Other features

Mobile betting – Betfred operate an impressive mobile app which is available for Android smartphones and tablets as well as iPhones and iPads. You can do pretty much everything that you can do on the desktop site using this app whilst on the move, making it perfect for taking a cheeky punt while you go about your everyday business. Read our in-depth guide to the Betfred mobile app here.

Betfred Totepool – Betfred offer a little something different with their online pool betting system. Without traditional odds, customers simply have to back a horse by placing a stake into the pool. If their horse wins, they share the pool with the other customers who backed the same horse. In fact, this type of bet gives a 9% better return to the punter on average when compared with fixed odds.

Goals Galore on the Betfred mobile app – This is an absolute peach of a feature from Betfred, and it’s incredibly simple to use. Via the Betfred mobile app you can access the Goals Galore section where you will be able to select a minimum of three football games from two coupons. If all of your selected teams score a goal then you will be in the winnings.

On-going promotions – Betfred may give its new customers a mouth-watering free bet, but they don’t forget their existing customers. There are a number of on-going and limited edition promotions throughout the sporting year. One example is the Double Delight and Hat-Trick Heaven in which you pick a first goalscorer in a football match. If that player scores the first goal and goes on to score another, you double your winnings. If the player scores a hat-trick, you get treble winnings.

ACCAttacka – This feature makes placing a football accumulator as easy as pie. Simply use the Betfred mobile app to select a stake amount and win amount, then allow the ACCAttacka build you an accumulator using advanced algorithms and statistics.

What’s the down side?

As a traditional high-street bookmaker, you could say that Betfred aren’t entirely up to scratch with the latest online betting features and trends. For example, there is no Cash Out option for live in-play betting, putting them a good length or two behind the front runners of online gambling. Also, they only offer a very limited live streaming service of horse racing and greyhound racing, which you can only access after placing a bet worth at least £1 on the race you wish to view.

This said, Betfred offer a more than satisfactory online gambling experience for anyone who isn’t particularly interested in cash-outs and live streaming.
